Oh my how I adored this wedding! There’s just something so magical about winter weddings — all of the twinkling lights, Carmen’s glittery bridesmaids dresses, and the coziness of the cafe lights hanging above the wooden Olde 41 made for an amazing day.

Simple elegance is how Carmen described her wedding vision to me, and I think she did a great job accomplishing it. These two are currently Illinois residents and wanted to plan a classic Wisconsin winter wedding, complete with photos at Lambeau Field, of course. It was freezing out, as it usually is in Wisconsin in December, but amidst the wind and the snow, there was the sweetest love story.

Carmen and Michael met during their freshman year of college, two weeks before school started. Both new to UW-Oshkosh, they had to report early as they were both on the college men’s and women’s soccer teams. They dated all through college, and once they were graduated, Michael popped the question while the two were vacationing at their favorite spot, Sleepy Bear Sand Dunes in Traverse City, Mich.

Since these two now reside in Chicago, planning a wedding in Green Bay, Carmen’s hometown, was no easy task. However, once they stumbled upon Olde 41, they were sold. According to the bride, “It was a no brainer after we walked into Olde 41. The room was stunning and it blew all the other venues we saw out of the water. We loved the hanging lights and with a winter wedding, we wanted it to be cozy and that’s exactly how it felt when we were in that hall. It was also so Wisconsin with all the wood, Harley gear, and Packer memorabilia. It had the perfect vibe.”

After we got in from the cold, they spent the entire night with family and friends. There was so much laughter that night, not to mention the fact that I think Michael’s best man gave one of the most hilarious speeches I’ve ever heard (and that’s saying a lot!). Carmen said her favorite thing about her wedding day was seeing friends and family she hadn’t talked to in a while. “Having all of our closest family and friends in one place at the same time was so special,” Carmen said. “We were overwhelmed with love and kind words the whole night.” Check out all of the pretty details below.
