This summer has definitely not disappointed and has produced some of the prettiest weddings I’ve had the pleasure of capturing. Door County is always a personal favorite location for me, especially in the warm summer months, and Kerry + Nicholas planned a picture perfect wedding with everything that makes Wisconsin the best. They were married in meadow lines with tall pines, shared a delicious dinner in an open-air tent and danced the night away, ending their day with a sparkler exit under the stars. Nights like this are what I dream of when it’s 15 degrees and blizzarding outside. Let’s not think about that yet.
And, even though this wedding was SO gorgeous, the best thing about the day was how smitten these two are for each other. From the day Kerry met Nicholas, she knew he was something special, and could picture this day very early on in their relationship.
Here’s how she described the day they met: “Nicholas decided to join the University of Minnesota Equestrian team while I was serving as treasurer of the club my sophomore year. It was his junior year and he had just transferred from the University of Wisconsin – Superior. At this point, Nicholas was one of only two boys on the equestrian team. The day he walked into our meeting, he immediately caught my eye and I called “dibs” to all of my friends! A few months later, I got into an unfortunate car crash on an icy road and needed a ride to the horse barn where I was boarding my horse at the time. In my mind, this was the perfect opportunity to get to know the new boy on the team. Of course Nicholas obliged and he went back to his house in Inver Grove Heights just to get a car so he could get to know me. After that, we went on a few dates and quickly became a couple. The rest, as they say, is history!”
When it came to the wedding day, Kerry knew exactly what she wanted, and Nicholas agreed. The couple wanted an outdoor venue where their family and friends could celebrate in a relaxed atmosphere. She knew the day would go by fast, and wanted to spend as much of it as possible with her guests. Here’s what she said about her wedding day when it was over:
“The wedding day was such a whirlwind! The first thing that comes to my mind is how it rained the entire morning and into the early afternoon before our ceremony. I am so thankful that it stopped raining because we were able to get pictures outside before the ceremony and then have our entire ceremony just how we imagined it. The rest of the night was clear and weather was perfect! My favorite part was during the reception, when Nicholas and I saw everyone having a great time and we both were dancing with all of our guests until the very end. The biggest advice I would give someone who still has their special day to look forward to, is to seriously take in every moment so you can hopefully remember as much of it as possible after its over.”
There are so many wonderful vendors that need thanking. This day came together because of the talents of SO many local artists. Cheers!
