2019 is a special year for me, because I have the pleasure of photographing three of my cousins’ weddings! We haven’t had a family wedding in years, but apparently 2019 is the year for my cousin-friends to tie the knot ๐
If you’ve followed along with my work, then you probably know that I come from a very close-knit family. It’s something I’ve always been proud of growing up. Phillip, my cousin, has always felt more like a brother to me. He and his brothers grew up right alongside my sister and I, and I don’t have many childhood memories that don’t involve him and his brothers.
I always knew that the women that these men would find would be some of the luckiest girls out there. Phil was never much of a dater. I really can’t remember him ever bringing girls around for family holidays. So, when he brought Beth into the family, I knew it was serious. We all immediately loved her and hoped (knew) that she would someday be a part of our crazy crew.
Last summer, after dating for several years, Phil and Beth were up at our family’s lake cabin over Memorial Day. It was the first Memorial Day in years that Cass and I weren’t at the cabin for (we were in Italy!), so we missed the incredible moment when Phil proposed to Beth. But, through Facetime we got to be a part of the excitement. Phil took Beth to one of the islands on our lake, a place that they visit every time they’re up north, and went on a long walk with their dog, Leo. Midway through their walk, Phil got down on one knee and proposed to Beth. She of course said yes and they rowed back to the cabin where everyone was ecstatic. What a perfect place and time to get engaged!
This summer, these two will make it official and I am so honored to be able to capture their wedding in the beautiful Lake Geneva. For now, check out their fall engagement session, featuring their adorable rescue pup ๐
