Oh my goodness. You guys. From the day that Hillary called me and asked me to shoot her wedding on the Amalfi Coast, I’ve been looking forward to this blog post. I have always, always dreamed of going to Italy, and it seemed like a far off wish. I had no idea that a simple conversation with one of the absolute sweetest couples would take me halfway around the world to the most magical place I’ve ever experienced. Life is funny that way though. Sometimes, things just happen. Serendipity maybe.
And actually, I think serendipity played a hand in how Hillary and Travis met, too. A modern day romance, they met online. Hillary always made sure to keep her search radius low in hopes of finding someone in her hometown, and given the fact that she’s a traveling pharmacy tech, she tried to stay off the app during her workdays. Except for one day. That fateful day when Hillary was working out of town, she got bored and pulled up her dating app. Lo and behold, she matched with a cute guy named Travis. And while their hometowns were not super close to each other, they formed a strong bond very quickly. Countless dates and meeting in towns at halfway points brought them to Italy to say their vows in the most incredible 13th century Arabian-Norman cloister.
So yes, single friends, you read that correctly. You too can swipe right on a man and end up in an Italian fairytale. #Hopeforthefuture.
Hillary and Travis’ wedding was not one single ounce short of incredible. I had dreamt about this wedding for months and months, and it honestly exceeded every expectation that I had. They were married at the Grand Hotel Convento di Amalfi, which is home to a 13th century (yes… 13th century) monastery perched on the cliffs of Amalfi, overlooking the sparkling blue Tyrrhenian Sea. Now a luxury hotel, it was the perfect place to experience a truly Italian wedding. After their nuptials, we walked over to the other side of the hotel’s property, via a cliff walkway, and ate dinner overlooking the ocean. I will never forget how beautiful that night was. The moon was so bright that it reflected perfectly off of the water, and our small group sat for hours eating the best Italian food and reminiscing about our trip. Top 10 life moments happened during this trip with these people, and I will forever be grateful for Hillary, Travis and their amazing families.
Before we get to the photos, I need to send a HUGE thanks to some incredible vendors. I had no idea what to expect shooting in Italy, but Lucy from The Amalfi Experience was there every step of the way, not only for Hilary and Travis, but for myself as well! She was truly a rockstar and put together such a stunning day.
