Ok brides, are you ready for some serious inspiration?? I’ve got it right here for you. But first, let me give you some background info. So one of my 2016 business goals for Jessica Bedore Photography was to host my very first styled shoot so that I could create some gorgeous portfolio pieces and network with some of the vendors in the area that I admire. Fast forward to this fall, and we created one of the most gorgeous holiday-inspired bohemian-glam shoots EVER.
For styling and the overall look and feel of the shoot, I reached out to Alliey from Sash and Bow Wedding Planners. Alliey was an obvious choice, and she was the first person I reached out to back when this whole thing was just an idea. We spent weeks dreaming up the colors and textures. But let’s be real… she did the majority of the work while I did the dreaming. 🙂
I knew right away that I wanted to have the shoot take place at Gather on Broadway. Gather is a brand new venue to the Green Bay area, and it’s really one of a kind as far as the look and feel of the venue. If you’re searching for something industrial with exposed brick and concrete floors, this is your winner. I also chose Gather because another goal for this shoot was to style a shoot completely indoors. If you’ve followed me for a while, then you know that I’m a natural light shooter, and I prefer to shoot outside when I can. With this shoot, I wanted to challenge myself to think outside the box. So, this entire shoot was done INSIDE!
Flowers are a giant part of any wedding. A good florist can completely transform a space and make your guests feel like they’ve been transported to another place. For this styled shoot, I wanted a bohemian look, and specifically, I wanted large overflowing greenery. Since Gather is so spacious and industrial, I wanted this wedding to feel like we had brought the outside in. I reached out to Sunny at Ebb and Flow Flowers in De Pere because she specializes in this style. I knew that she would be the perfect person to create the loose “foraged” look I was going for.
Any girl’s favorite part of the wedding is, duh, THE DRESS. For that, I went to Tie the Knot Bridal Boutique in Green Bay and found this stunner. Mel pulled it off fabulously! I loved the flowy material and the show-stopping plunging back. It was one of my favorites! Our groom was outfitted in the latest trends by DuBois Formalware, also in Green Bay.
Obviously, every wedding needs dessert! I’m obsessed with Karli at Cake and Cookie in De Pere because she makes the most drool-worthy french macaroons ever. That’s not an exaggeration. She was so sweet to agree to help me with a wedding cake AND a macaroon tower for this shoot. They were both so pretty — and unfortunately, made with hardening frosting for modeling, so we didn’t get to stuff our faces afterward 🙁 (Probably a good thing).
Alyssa and Anna Fine Jewelry supplied the beautiful rings in these photos, and I’m so thankful that she made the drive to Green Bay for this!! The copper rings matched our invite suite and the bride’s dress flawlessly. And for those of you who are not yet engaged… make sure your future hubby knows about these girls. Alyssa and Anna make the most badass rings and I couldn’t imagine ever looking elsewhere.
Katie Leigh Creative hand painted me some pretty little place cards and a table number design for the shoot. Katie– you are SO talented and I thank you for helping me!! A little secret of mine – I so wish I could paint or draw, but I definitely cannot. Katie, you’re a wonderful artist!
The gorgeous people you see in these photos are none other than the wonderful Mel and Pat, who happen to be one of my 2018 wedding couples. That’s right, they’re a real life engaged couple 🙂 When Mel agreed to model for me (which was WAY out of her comfort zone), I was ecstatic! I mean, look at her! Honestly girl, I think you may have a future in modeling. Anyways, these two were fantastic to work with and hung in there like pros as we spent half a day pointing a camera at them. And a big shout out to Pat. Most guys don’t even like posing at their own wedding, but Pat hung in there and smiled as a fake groom at a fake wedding. It doesn’t get better than that.
And last, but certainly not least, my cousin Ashley of Haven Salon + Spa in De Pere was one of my partners in crime throughout this process. Ashley is a pro at wedding party hair, and the two of us do a lot of real-life weddings together. She gave Mel the true bridal experience and made her look even more like a model (as if she needed it). I’ll always be thankful for your crazy talents, Ash!
OK I’m done talking now. WHEW! Take a look at what we created. I think you’ll like what you see!
